The darkness wears off Farewell dismay I'm selling you for new friends and fresh starts And that sounds like a pretty good exchange I'll take the offer Bailey calls shotgun He's usually riding middle but now he's not He's so excited It's like a prize he's won At a carnival Full of shit that doesn't matter But whatever you say I can't be shocked I know this ending well enough by heart We'll all be sitting Impatient at a dead stop Until we realize Why the car won't start Decker I swear to God this is the 58th time that you've lost your keys We're screaming from the back while you're scrambling around in frantic disbelief Is there anything you'd trade? Is there anything you'd change? I guess you're right I'm loving my life I see you got new shoes They remind me of when I put my alarm on snooze That wasn't funny Forget what I just said I think that we should catch a movie around 10 But Decker lost his keys You know? That's fine I think I'm holding off on spending money this time 'Cause what the fuck's a savings account anyways? It's all going according to plan 'til you say "I found this coffee shop on Alvarado Street you might like, You can sit outside and watch the foot traffic weave on by." Is there anything you'd trade? Is there anything you'd change? I guess you're right I'm loving my life

Harmony 03:25
It started with the way that you sang You don't sing; just speak It's picturesque the way you behave You don't fret; just move Oh why do I feel so attached? I take it back I never meant to say it like a negative thing Let's sing in harmony, you're a part of me The tiles on the floor rearrange Into kaleidoscopes and so many unfamiliar shapes, alleyways Are you awake? Can you call to confirm you're alive? I'm fine, just losing a feel for the way your voice sounds at night So let's sing in harmony You're a part of me! And I promise it's all worth the wait And I promise it's all worth the weight

Virginia 05:03
Everywhere I look You ain't here And that's the column we shook You ain't here May fades, it rots The air, the bark It seems so long... But it only was a moment Now I'm alone Vonnegut traced a certain emphasis "So it goes" You never know what you're presently missing I should've listened And now I'm caught up reminiscing How everywhere I look You ain't here And that's the column we shook You ain't here May fades, it rots The air, the bark It seems so long... (I shatter the frame) Let's have a drink to celebrate Being three thousand miles from home Yeah we all hated Virginia 'til The shower water got too cold

When the rush wears off, you feel disjointed I can name you every street in between Dahlgren and here Skylines headline our own ambitions But I promise San Francisco won't keep you any better than your dear, True-hearted companions It's been a circle, a revolution Since you handed me smiles in tried and true consistency Yet I still feel that ambience, that sanguine feeling In the dotted lines in which you transfer your vibes and energy So what did you ask me Is there anything better than here? Not quite, but it can be if you're willing The names and faces change, but there's always Family and friends, there's still music I do my best to make those connections And you may call them practical allusions I guess all I'm saying is that we're alright where we are So whenever you invite me to apprehension I recoil to those scenes that I acted in The fear, the darkness, and not to mention The fact that you're not in control, you've never been But I'm still insisting, Is there anything better than here? Not quite, but it can be if you're willing The names and faces change, but there's always Family and friends, there's still music I do my best to make those connections And you may call them practical allusions I guess all I'm saying is that we're alright where we are

about

This EP was recorded over the span of four days in a San Francisco apartment. It is dedicated to the good friends I spent that time with, as well as the many others that shaped my heart and my songs to be what they are today.
